Professional Artist Kit

Learn what they don’t teach you in art school. If you have been working on creating your art for a while and are ready to start exhibiting it in public places this class will help motivate and inspire you to do so. In this affordable two day workshop you will learn the administrative skills needed to promote yourself as a professional artist in person and using the internet.
Day one covers how to research opportunities, choose the right location for your art, document your work and assemble a portfolio including a resume and artist statement.
Day two covers working with a venue owner, writing and/or assessing a contract, pricing your work, hanging a show, promoting your work and keeping track of your opportunities and exhibitions.
This class will provide students with valuable handouts on subjects discussed in class including local resources for artists. In addition students will be given a CD of useful documents and spreadsheets. This class is primarily lecture based with plenty of time for questions to be answered and information shared. There is a minor writing component.
